St. Nicolai (Wiedensahl)
St. Nicholas is an Evangelical Lutheran church building in Wiedensahl , a spot in the district of Schaumburg in Lower Saxony .
history
Already around 1000 AD there was a chapel of the noble court of the Lords of See on the lake (today: Wiedensahler Sahl). This was extended in 1275 to include the nave and the tower . Field stones and roughly hewn sandstone were used as building materials. In 1516, after the old chapel was demolished, the chancel with the confessional chamber (today's sacristy ) was added to the nave.
Furnishing
altar
The altar dates from 1699. The altarpiece, framed by wreathed columns with ears of corn and grapes, shows the Lord's Supper with the previous washing of the feet.
Pulpit and baptismal font
The pulpit , which is decorated by the four evangelists, was carved in 1675. The font is three years older. Both were made by the same master.
organ
Between 1878 and 1974 there were a total of five different organs in the church. Today's instrument was built by the organ building company P. Ott (Göttingen); old parts and the case from Johann Berenhard Klausing from 1717 were taken over. It has 20 stops on two manuals and a pedal .
Bells
The church peal consists of two bells . These still come from the Renaissance and the Baroque . They were restored in 2007 by Lachenmeyer (Nördlingen). The bells got new wooden yokes. One of the missing crown handles was also replaced.
