Mass Effect: Andromeda is an action role-playing game with third-person shooter elements from BioWare . The game is part of the Mass Effect franchise and is the starting point of a new series. The game was officially unveiled on June 15, 2015 during the Electronic Arts publisher's press conference at E3 2015. Mass Effect: Andromeda was released in North America on March 21, 2017 and in Europe on March 23, 2017.
Gameplay
Mass Effect: Andromeda is an action role-playing game in which the player controls either Sara or Scott Ryder from a third-person perspective .
In contrast to the previous parts, in which the player had to choose one of six character classes with predefined skills, you can now choose which skills you want to have. Points assigned to specific skills can be reassigned at any time, allowing you to experiment with multiple approaches to gameplay without restarting the game and building your skills from scratch.
The game has an open game world that is similar to the world of the original Mass Effect game series. The player has the option to play either a male or a female human character. The player will be able to control the re-introduced and customizable six-wheeled vehicle Nomad to explore the new planets in the game. The E3 2016 trailer showed that, similar to the Normandy from the previous series, a spaceship named Tempest is under the command of the player. The game offers different planets to explore, each with its own characteristics. Similar to its predecessors, it again has a dialogue tree, decisions, romantic relationships with companions and a cooperative multiplayer mode.
The game is set in the Andromeda Galaxy several centuries after the events of the first three Mass Effect games . The storyline begins during the events of Mass Effect 2 , but the course separates from the events of the third part.
prehistory
The Andromeda Initiative starts the four arks Hyperion , Leusinia , Natanus and Parssero in the direction of Andromeda in 2185 . Your goal is to discover and colonize new worlds in Andromeda. Each ark has around 20,000 colonists of a Milky Way species on board and has a pathfinder and the artificial intelligence SAM (Simulated Adaptive Matrix). Hyperion's ark houses the people, Leusinia is the ark of the Asari, the turians are on Natanus and the Parssero houses the salarian population. The journey to Andromeda takes about 600 years. The colonists spend the long journey in cryostasis . The task of the Pathfinder is to find new planets for the Andromeda Initiative , to test them for suitability for life and to set up an outpost for colonization . The Pathfinder has a Pathfinder team with specialists, the KI SAM , the Tempest spacecraft and the Nomad ND-1 ground vehicle at their disposal. The Nexus space station serves as the anchor point of the arks and base for the Pathfinder as well as the coordination point for the colonization , which was sent on the journey in a half-finished state before the arks. The Nexus also has colonists on board. Upon arrival in Andromeda, you should complete the space station and help the other colonists clear the stasis and colonize them.
The Nexus collided with the Scourge upon arrival , causing the station significant damage. Some cryogenic units are so badly damaged that the people in the cryogenic units are killed. Including almost the entire management floor of the Andromeda Initiative . At the same time, Jien Garson, the founder of the Andromeda Initiative , is murdered in her quarters in the still isolated area of the Nexus . The murder will not be investigated further, but will be dismissed as an accident during the Scourge disaster. Furthermore, the arrival of the arks does not occur, which leads to concern among the crew of the space station. The remaining leadership gives the crew the impression that they have no plan. This fact leads to a riot on board the station. The exiles settle on Kadera , under the leadership of Sloan Kelly. Scott and Sara are twins and are the children of Alec Ryder, a former N7 soldier and Hyperion Ark Pathfinder . 634 years after the launch of the arks in the Milky Way, Hyperion's ark arrives in the Heleus Cluster of the Andromeda Galaxy and collides with the Scourge . The Hyperion is damaged in the collision . Alec Ryder decides to explore the planet Habitat-7 for a safe haven. While exploring the planet and activating the relic vault, which is a construct for terraforming , he finds his death. After Alec's death, one of Alec's children takes over the post of Pathfinder. While one twin takes on the role of Pathfinder, the other remains in the Hyperion's infirmary and is in a coma. The Hyperion then heads for the Nexus .
The Pathfinder team finds the Nexus in an unfinished state and in energy-saving mode. The Hyperion docks at the escape wheel of the Nexus and sends an exploration team on board the station. There they meet Kandros, a turian who heads the station's militia. This leads the team to the control area of the station and explains the current situation of the Nexus to the Pathfinder team . The director of the initiative Jarun Tann gives Ryder the chance to prove himself.
For this, Ryder flies to the next planned golden world, Eos. With the Asari Peebee, Ryder succeeds in activating the monoliths, which opens up access to the underground vault. Ryder ends the vault lockdown that has been in place since the Scourge appeared. At the entrance to the vault, Ryder finds a hologram card of the Heleus cluster. A planet can be seen there, the vault of which appears to be active.
On the surface, the reactivation of the vault has greatly improved the atmosphere. Now that the planet is habitable, Ryder establishes the Prodromos outpost . In search of the active vault, Ryder meets the Archon, head of the Kett in Heleus. Ryder manages to escape him through the Scourge. Alien ships suddenly appear on the approach to the vaulted planet. These allow Ryder to land on the planet.
Ryder leaves the ship and is taken to see Governor Paaran Shie. She introduces her people as the Angara.
