NK Jemisin
Nora K. Jemisin (* 19th September 1972 in Iowa City ) is an American science fiction - and fantasy - author .
Life
Jemisin was born in Iowa City and grew up in New York City and Mobile, Alabama . She studied psychology in New Orleans and College Park, Maryland . Today she lives in Brooklyn .

Jemisin is known as a blogger on feminist and political topics. Since 2004 she has also published fantasy and science fiction literature on these topics . Her first novel The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms from 2010 was honored with the Locus Award for best debut. As a result, she was nominated several times for the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award . Her novels The Fifth Season and The Obelisk Gate won Hugo awards in 2016 and 2017, respectively. This makes her the first African-American author to receive the Hugo Award in the Best Novel category. The Stone Sky received the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 2018 and also received the Locus Award in the Fantasy category in 2018 . In 2018 she received the Karl Edward Wagner Award as part of the British Fantasy Awards .
Jemisin is considered one of the best modern fantasy writers. Her work was successful both commercially and in reception.
Her novels from the Inheritance Trilogy (German: Das Erbe der Götter ), Mass Effect: Andromeda - Feuertaufe as well as the first two parts of the series Die Große Stille are currently available in German translation .
