Locus Award
The Locus Award is a literary prize for science fiction and fantasy (partly also dark fantasy and horror ) given annually since 1971 by the American trade magazine Locus . Alongside the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award, the Locus Award is one of the most important awards for SF and fantasy literature. It is awarded for works published in English for the first time in America the previous year.
The award is based on a reader survey. You can now also take part online. Originally intended to make recommendations and suggestions for the upcoming Hugo award, participation in the Locus Awards was often higher than that of Hugo and Nebula combined.
For a few years now, the five best in each category have been announced at the end of the election phase (around mid-April). The actual award ceremony and announcement of the winners takes place around mid-June at a banquet. The exact placements of all nominees will be published in the subsequent issues of Locus magazine. This information will be published online at the beginning of the following year on the Locus Online website.
For the Locus Award, the year in which the prize was awarded is used for the award ceremony.

The type and number of categories available for election depends on the one hand on the readers' wishes, but also on the number of candidates. In the fiction categories, between 15 and 30 works are usually nominated per category.

Anthology
This category contains collections of shorter works (usually everything below Roman) by several authors in one book.
In 1971 there was a category "Anthology / Collection", the winning work that year was an anthology and is therefore listed here. In the years 1972 to 1975 there were the categories "Original Anthology" and "Reprint Anthology / Collection", which have since been discontinued, the winners of which are not listed here. The category has been offered in its current form since 1976 (with the exception of 1978).
