Scott David Westerfeld (* 5. May 1963 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American science fiction - writers .

Life

Westerfeld was born in Dallas , Texas . As a child, he moved to Connecticut , where his father worked as a programmer. Westerfeld graduated from Vassar College in 1985 with a BA in Philosophy . As a teenager he started composing music and created music for modern dance . In 2001 Westerfeld married the Australian author Justine Larbalestier. Today he lives alternately in Sydney and New York City.

Books

Westerfeld is known for the Uglies series (German Ugly - do not lose your face ). He also wrote The Risen Empire and The Killing of Worlds ; two parts of a work that was originally called Succession . Westerfeld has also written a manga series called Shay's Story . He also wrote the Leviathan trilogy, which consists of the novels Leviathan , Behemoth and Goliath . In addition, The Manual of Aeronautics , an illustrated manual for the series, was published.

His novels So Yesterday were to be filmed by the producers of Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine . But this plan "slowly fell asleep", as Scott Westerfeld reported on his blog. The film rights to the Uglies series were bought by Twentieth Century Fox in 2006 .

  • Evolution's Darling was a 2000 New York Times "Notable Book" and was 2000 for the Philip K. Dick Award nominated
  • So Yesterday won a Victorian Premier's Award
  • Peeps and Uglies were named "Best Books For Young Adults" by the American Library Association in 2006
  • Leviathan was nominated for an ORCA (Oregon Reader's Choice Award)
