Geoffrey A. Landis

Geoffrey Alan Landis (born May 28, 1955 in Detroit ) is an American science fiction writer and scientist working for NASA .

Life

Landis studied physics and electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and then received a PhD in solid state physics from Brown University . After completing his doctorate, he first worked for NASA's Lewis Research Center (now the Glenn Research Center ) and the Ohio Aerospace Institute, before later taking on a permanent position at the Glenn Research Center.

In 1985 he participated in the renowned Clarion workshop for budding science fiction and fantasy authors, where he subsequently also worked as a lecturer. Landis often writes "hard" science fiction, in which he also processes the research he does as a practicing scientist. Landis is the author of several scientific articles. He writes on the Fermi Paradox and Venus colonization and other scientific topics.

Landis is married to the writer Mary A. Turzillo .
