Lou Fine

Louis "Lou" Kenneth Fine (* 1914 in New York ; † July 24, 1971 ) was an American comic book artist and illustrator .

Life

Early on with polio, Fine studied at the Grand Central Art School and the Pratt Institute and was influenced by the drawings of Dean Cornwell , JC Leyendecker and Heinrich Kleys . Fine drew Wow, What a comic in 1936 and from 1938 worked for Will Eisner and Jerry Iger on Stuart Taylor and Count of Monte-Christo . He later drew comics such as Black Condor and Uncle Sam before starting to strip artist and illustrator for magazines such as Liberty and American Weekly in 1940 . Interrupted by his military service from 1942 to 1945 , Fine drew the strips The Thropp Family and Space Conquerors as well as Adam Ames and Peter Scratch . Louis Fine, who had lived his life with his mother, died in 1971.
