A cluricaun ( Irish clutharachán, clutharacán, clúracán ) is an elven creature from the Celtic mythology of Ireland . He is closely related to the leprechaun .

Thomas Crofton Croker claimed in 1825 in Fairy Legends and Traditions of the South of Ireland that the word was derived from "luchramán", dwarf. His collection of fairy tales was translated by the Brothers Grimm in 1826 as Irish fairy tales , where the Cluricaun appears in nos. 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 .

Today the word “Cluricaun” is a common name of Irish pubs .
