Young Justice

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Young Justice is a fictional superhero group from the US publisher DC Comics , which consists of teenage members. The group made their first appearance in Young Justice: The Secret (June 1998) before receiving their own monthly comic series. The last US edition of Young Justice was Titans / Young Justice: Graduation Day (August 2003). Almost all editions of the comic series, intended for a younger audience, were drawn by Todd Nauck . The author of the early adventures was Todd DeZago , who wrote almost all editions of the current series Peter David .

Team history

The team was formed when DC's superhero group, the Teen Titans, became the Titans , the union of older young heroes. The founding members were the unofficial leader Robin , as well as Superboy and Impulse . Early in the series, Arrowette , Wonder Girl and Secret were joined by three female members. The young heroes' mentor was the android Red Tornado . The group was based in the old JLA headquarters in Happy Harbor .

Sins of youth

In the multi-part story, Sins of Youth (US-Sins of Youth) turned children and adolescents - including Young Justice - into adults and adults into children through a spell . The situation could be reversed again. Only Lobo remained rejuvenated as he was not on earth and joined Slobo as a new member .

Matriculation examination

In the miniseries final exam (US Titans / Young Justice: Graduation Day) from 2003, both teams broke up and formed the Outsiders and new Teen Titans .

publication

Original in English

In the original, 56 issues of the series were published from September 1998 to May 2003. There were also some special editions.

German-speaking area

The US editions of Young Justice were published in German from 1999 to 2001 by Dino Verlag in Stuttgart, initially as a JLA Special (three issues), then as a separate series Young Justice (nine issues), with the first 19 of the regular US series Expenses were taken into account. There were also two JLA specials (with the Justice League of America ), a Young Justice Special (with Supergirl ) and the story of a visit to the earthquake-ravaged Gotham City in the No Man's Land special (with Lagoon Boy ). In January 2004, Panini Verlag brought the final series maturity exam in DC presented # 20 and in March 2005 submitted the US Young Justice edition of Our Worlds at War with World War Monster Edition # 1 .

A portion of these issues were reprinted by Eaglemoss ( DC Comics Graphic Novel Collection # 35, October 2015) and Panini ( Batman: No Man's Land # 3, December 2017).

cartoon

A film adaptation of the comic series of the same name has been produced in the USA since 2010 based on an idea by Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti . This deviates considerably from the original in terms of content, so the concept of the series is far more serious - the sometimes slapstick-like or absurd humor of the comic series is dispensed with. The composition of the team is also completely different (instead of Robin / Tim Drake, Impuls / Bart Allen and Superboy, Robin / Dick Grayson, Kid Flash / Wally West, Superboy, Aqualad and Miss Martian are founding members).
