action

The plot of Damage begins with high school student Grant Emerson waking up one day to discover that he was miraculously given superpowers overnight. From then on he has the ability to create explosions from his body by causing things to erupt by simply touching them. In addition, there are some common traits found in superhero comics such as superhuman strength, endurance, and resilience.

Emerson initially uses his powers to act as a superhero. Accordingly, he gets involved in some genre-typical battles with super villains such as Baron Blitzkrieg or Iron Munro. After accidentally destroying downtown Atlanta in the heat of a battle , he is temporarily arrested and expelled from his home state of Georgia. In later editions of his own series, Damage joins the Titans superhero team and discovers the secret of his superpowers, which is attributed to the fact that he is the son of the late superhero Al Pratt aka Atom. More psychological stories include Damage's attempt to track down a school friend's murderer and coming to terms with a long-repressed childhood trauma, abuse by his foster father. Most recently, Damage lived on a reservation for Indians for a while before joining the Justice Society superhero team.
