Main character
The main character of the Deadshot series is the eponymous mercenary Floyd Lawton, alias Deadshot, a professional killer and soldier of fortune equipped with the attributes of an antihero , who experiences all sorts of explosive adventures in the course of his assignments.
Deadshot was originally conceived by the author Bill Finger and the illustrator Bob Kane as an adversary of the superhero Batman , in issue # 59 of the series of the same name from June 1959 it debuted. In its original version nor a tuxedo wearing gunman with wiry Clark Gable - mustache , Venetian face mask and folding cylinder was overhauled the figure in 1977 by the team of artists Steve Angel Heart and Marshal Rogers during their runs at the Batman series and made visually and in character contemporary: Since the modernization by Engleheart / Rogers, Deadshot wears a gray mask that completely covers his head and is equipped with a homing visor that helps him focus his victims. His clothing consists of a predominantly matt red combat suit with a conspicuous target in the chest area. In addition, Deadshot has put down the traditional revolvers and exchanged them for integrated firing devices that are fixed above his wrists and which he can operate through tactile contacts in his gloves.
After appearing a few more times as a villain in the Batman series, Deadshot was finally largely spun off from this in the early 1980s and gained the status of an independent character who experienced independent adventures separate from the Batman series. The first miniseries followed in 1987.
action
Dead Shots alter ego Floyd Lawton was originally called the snobbistische Heritage introduced a considerable family fortune in the Batman series: By day a playboy and amateur shooter uses of the pomp of the spoiled -crowd bored -Lebens Lawton his brilliant skills as a marksman at night to Batman, the masked Protector of his hometown Gotham City to compete as a crime fighter: As a counterprogram to the ennui of his existence as a playboy and dandy in high society circles , Lawton seeks the risky adventures and thrills that hunting dangerous criminals seems to offer him. He consequently masks himself and goes on a gangster hunt at night - equipped with two Wild West revolvers. In doing so, he never kills his opponents, but disarms them by shooting precisely at their hands in order to be able to arrest those who have become defenseless. Strengthened by several successful "missions" in his self-confidence, Lawton baptizes himself - believing that he will "never miss his goal" - Deadshot, the man who always hits the mark.
Out of infantile jealousy, Lawton finally tries to kill Batman, in whom he sees a rival for the goodwill of the citizens of Gotham City, in order to watch over the city as the sole protector from now on. After this endeavor fails - Lawton is convicted of his attempted murder in front of an assembled crowd - turns to Lawton - who as a declared lawbreaker has nothing more to lose anyway - to the crime and tries to take control of the underworld of Gotham City to himself.
After this project also fails, Lawton gives up his far-reaching ambitions and becomes a hired killer who offers his services to anyone who is willing to reward him "appropriately". In his new job, he benefits not only from his masterly command of firearms, but also from his physical fitness, his charisma , his ruthless disregard for life - including his own - and his calculating cunning. After several more - also unfortunate - clashes with Batman, Lawton joins the Suicide Squad , a task force established by the US government that grants convicted criminals parole in exchange for their services.
Deadshot series
The first Deadshot series (Deadshot # 1–4, 1987) is about a personal tragedy of Deadshot: After his little son - who appears here for the first time - is kidnapped, raped and murdered by a pedophile, he hunts the killer of his child, which he can finally bring down in issue # 4. In terms of character, the character of the character has been fundamentally changed as a result of the events of this miniseries: Previously a lively, reckless man with a cheerful, sunny disposition, his pronounced wish to die - combined with the urge to die in the most spectacular way possible - has been Deadshot's most distinctive character trait. The target in the chest area of his costume - previously only intended as a decorative ornament - has since been taken by the authors continuously as an invitation from Deadshot to his opponents to put an end to him and thus to free him from his suffering.
In his second series, Deadshot experiences all kinds of adventures in the fictional city of Star City. Called for help by his ex-wife, he freed the city - free of charge - from the reign of terror of a criminal syndicate. Incidentally, he first reveals something like a noble character trait when he rescues his little daughter - who had been kidnapped by the criminal syndicate - from its power.
Most recently, the loner Lawton joined a group called "The Secret Six" founded by billionaire Lex Luthor , a kind of task force that forcibly protects Luther's interests. Of the members of the team, he is particularly close to the acrobat Thomas Blake, Catman.

Together with the killers Copperhead, Star Sapphire, Volcana and Livewire, he appears in "Hereafter" as a paid rioter.
