Smallville is a fictional small town in the state of Kansas of the United States of the comic book universe published by DC . The place was first mentioned in US Superboy # 2 (Vol. 1) from May 1949.

Fictional story

The place was founded by fur hunter and dealer Ezra Small in the 1840s as a trading post. Arriving settlers called the huts built by Small "Smallville". Spared in the Civil War , a community emerged in the vast expanses of Kansas, mainly consisting of farms , the main industries of which were grain cultivation (especially corn and wheat ) and beef cattle .

Description and inhabitants

Smallville is the city where Kal-El landed on earth as an infant in a spaceship (sent from the planet Krypton ) and was found by the Kent couple. As Clark Kent, the later Superman spent his youth as a superboy in the town. A few miles outside of Smallville is the farm of Superman's foster parents Jonathan and Martha Kent. Other well-known Smallville residents include Clark Kent's childhood sweetheart, Lana Lang, his friend Pete Ross, and Kenny Braverman, who appeared as the villain Conduit in some of the 1990s Superman stories . Together they attended the local high school and played on their football team . Even Lex Luthor kept as a young adult for a while in Smallville on to his research on extraterrestrial life pursue; he and Clark became friends. However, Luthor later denied having been to Smallville.

Smallville is hit by strong tornadoes and blizzards in the fall and winter months - as is often the case in the Great Plains .

Television series

In the years 2001 to 2011, 217 episodes of the eponymous TV series Smallville were produced in ten seasons . It tells the story of Clark Kent's youth. The series ends with Clark assuming his destiny as Superman and Earth Savior.

Others

In the comics and films, Lois Lane often calls her Daily Planet colleague Clark Kent "Smallville", after Clark's place of origin, especially in his early days in the daily newspaper.
