Joe Staton (born January 19, 1948 in North Carolina ) is an American comic book author and illustrator.

Life

Staton grew up in Tennessee , where he attended Milan High School. After studying at Murray State University in Kentucky, which he successfully completed in 1970, he began to work as a freelance draftsman. From 1971 he drew comic series E-Man , which appeared at Charlton Comics , as well as numerous other comic series for Charlton and Marvel Comics and Warren Publishings.

At the urging of editor Paul Levitz , Staton finally began working exclusively for DC Comics for several years . There he was initially responsible for the series All-Star Comics and Adventure Comics . In the further course of the 1970s he worked on projects such as Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes , Metal Men and Doom Partol . From 1979 Staton finally drew the series Green Lantern .

In the 1980s he worked as Artistic Director at First Comics for three years before returning to DC to work again on Green Lantern and the Green Lantern Corps series . This was followed by work on the series Millennium , The Huntress and The New Guardians in the 1980s and on Guy Gardner , Batman : Shadow of the Bat in the 1990s .

Staton is currently working as an illustrator of a comic series tailored to a child audience for the cartoon character Scooby Doo and for the Archie Comics .
