action

At the center of the plot of The Heckler is Stuart "Stu" Moseley, the owner of a diner called "Eats" in the fictional town of Delta City. Moseley - a hero in the tradition of Picaros the picaresque novel - survives miraculously, despite or precisely because he has no special skills other than his worldly-wise cleverness even the irregular situation in which he comes in the wake of his "heroic" activities.

In a comprehensive parody of classic superhero themes, the "Heckmeister", as Moseley calls himself during his hero tours, confronts criminals who, for their part, adhere to the concept of the super villain through excessive exaggeration of classic super villain attributes (garish costumes, senseless and self-damaging monologues etc.) to lead absurdity. He is also swallowed by a monster and plunged into abysses.

The Heckler owes his success to his annoying, sarcastic manner and the excessive use of vulgar language (!), In a sense his "superpowers".

The round of spoof characters is rounded off by an unnamed assistant who accompanies Heckler on his adventures, François, the cook at Eats, Mr. Dude, Heckler's main informant who, alluding to a popular conspiracy theory, is the new identity of his Death is only pretending to be Elvis Presley, the competing superhero X-Ms, the gang boss Boss Glitter, the ultra-conservative television presenter PC Rabid, Bushwack'r a bounty hunter who pokes fun at the Wile E. Coyote of the Road Runner cartoons and whose attacks on the Heckler are always after backfire, El Gusano a worm-like assassin, the Cosmic Clown, an Android in a clown costume, the philosophical John Doe and C'est Hay a psychopathic serial killer.
