Marcia Karen Wallace (born November 1, 1942 in Creston , Iowa , † October 25, 2013 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress and voice actress . Her best-known roles included Carol Kester Bondurant in The Bob Newhart Show (1972-1977) and the voice of Edna Krabappel in The Simpsons (1990-2013).

biography

Wallace had her first appearances in front of the camera in 1971. She occasionally took on guest roles in various series until she finally got one of the leading roles on The Bob Newhart Show in 1972 . With this role, which she played until 1977, she made her breakthrough. After The Bob Newhart Show , things became quieter until she finally got the role of Edna Krabappel in the hit cartoon series The Simpsons in 1990 , for which she was even awarded an Emmy in 1992.

Another well-known role of Wallace was that of Maggie Hawley in the short-lived series Here Comes Bush! . The series received enough ratings, but it was just too expensive.

She had some guest appearances on series such as Full House , ALF and A Heavenly Family (7.21-8.01, 2003).

Wallace had been married to hotelier Denny Hawley since 1986, who died in 1992. From this marriage she has an adopted son.

On October 25, 2013, Marcia Wallace died with her family in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia .
