action
Louise Miller discovers on her sixteenth birthday that she is a witch and possesses supernatural powers. She uses her powers to interfere in the affairs of her family and friends, which in the case of her brother Richie leads to failure. Louise Brad Powell first wants to bewitch her to love her, but then changes her mind. Instead, she makes herself the most popular girl in school to make Brad fall for her. Everything seems to be going well for Louise, but for sheer popularity, she forgets her true friends. She also gets scary to herself when she wants to wish someone a "neck and leg" before a theater performance and the other person really breaks her leg. When her best friend Polly accuses her of becoming estranged from her, Louise doubts whether she will be happy as a witch.
Brad invites Louise to the prom, but she declines the invitation, telling him there are things he doesn't know about her. Louise goes to Madame Serena, a witch like herself. She tells of her desire to undo the effects of the magical powers. So she goes to the ball with Serena, where Louise renounces her magical powers. She gives her talisman to Serena and dances with Brad, who loves her even without magic.
