George Dzundza

George Dzundza ( Ukrainian Джордж Дзундза / Dschordsch Dsundsa ; born July 19, 1945 in Rosenheim , Germany ) is an American actor with Ukrainian and Polish roots.

Life

Dzundza was born in 1945 in a Bavarian refugee camp as the son of a Ukrainian and a Polish woman who were obliged by the Nazis to do forced labor in Germany. After spending a few years in Amsterdam, the family emigrated to the USA in 1956.

Dzundza played one of his first major roles in Going Through Hell in 1978 as bartender John alongside Robert De Niro , Christopher Walken and Meryl Streep . In the first season of the television series Law & Order , he played the role of Sergeant Max Greevey from 1990 to 1991 , but left the series after the first season because of disputes over the quality of the scripts and for family reasons. In addition to his participation in the sitcom Jesse , he was also a narrator on the Batman and Superman comic series.

In various films, Dzundza appeared in supporting roles, including in Basic Instinct at the side of Michael Douglas , in No Way Out - There is no turning back next to Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman . In 1995 he played, again alongside Hackman, the boat manager of a submarine in Crimson Tide , in which Denzel Washington and Viggo Mortensen also participated, and appeared in the high school drama Dangerous Minds .

Dzundza is married and has three children.
