Police officer Eddie Jillette and his partner arrest a drug dealer in Chicago who, in exchange for mitigation, tells him that he is supposed to commit murder on behalf of a man from the southern states. The policemen pretend to be killers and meet Deveneux, whom Michel Duval is accompanying. The man wants Duval's former boyfriend, the gang boss Losado, to be killed. However, the Losados ​​people kill Jillette's husband and partner, who just barely escapes.

Jillette comes to New Orleans , where he finds Duval and gets closer to her. Eddie and Michel hide from Losado, who does not shy away from any brutality. They flee with the help of a canoe into the swamps of Louisiana, made difficult by handcuffs whose keys have been lost.

In a hotel there is a showdown in which Jillette kills Losado.

  • Rita Kempley wrote in the Washington Post that the film would be made according to the standard pattern. Kim Basinger is playing a sex toy again after 9 1/2 weeks .
  • Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times that while the thriller was stupid and followed a standard formula, he would rather write about the style and energy of the film. He is not boring. Ebert praised the character of Losado as a successful villain and the portrayals of Richard Gere and Kim Basinger. At the end of his review, Ebert wrote that the film was above average.

The film grossed over $ 12 million in the US box office.
