action
The action takes place in the city of Buffalo . Jesse Warner is the single mother of ten-year-old Little John and works as a waiter in her father John's "Bayern Bar". Another important part in Jesse's life is played by her two brothers, one of whom has decided not to speak anymore. But even without words, John Jr. often had wise advice for Jesse in store. Her second brother Darren is always charming, always broke and chases after the "surefire business idea". Jesse bears all responsibility for the family on her shoulders and also wants to realize her dream of an uncomplicated romance and training as a nurse. She receives further support in her turbulent everyday life from her high school friend Linda, who also works as a waitress.
The hot-blooded Diego, who moves into the house next door and soon takes an important place in Jesse's emotional life, causes further eddies in the family. Unfortunately, her father, John Warner Sen., firmly believes that Diego is not the right man for his daughter. He tries to disrupt the relationship between the two where he can. But that's not all: Jesse's life is further complicated by the regular appearances of her ex-husband, who repeatedly tries to win her and the rest of the family back.
In the second season, Jesse becomes a nurse and her family members no longer play a role in the plot.
