Transformers: Prime (also Transformers: Prime - The Animated Series ) is an American CGI series based on the Transformers toy series. The series is produced by Hasbro Studios , while the CGI animation is created in the Japanese studio Polygon Pictures .

In 2015 the sequel Transformers: Robots in Disguise was released . In 2018 the series Transformers: Cyberverse , which is also based on Transformers: Prime , was released.

production

Roberto Orci, author of the series

The series was penned by the two screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman , who had already worked on the first two "Live Action Transformers" films, as well as Jeff Kline and Duane Capizzi . The team was provided with the "Binder of Revelation," a 400-page production Bible that Hasbro has been working on since the movies. This Bible combines the most popular Transformers continuities to produce a whole new series. The team of writers Nicole Dubuc , Marsha Griffin , Joseph Kuhr and Steven Melching worked under Capizzi to give the series a very cinematic, exciting and dangerous feeling, as today's youth are much more blunted by the media than before.

action

Miniseries

It has been a long time since the Decepticon last attacked Earth, but in a certain moment Megatron and his Decepticons will return from deep space and plan to use the dark energon to bring fallen Cybertronian warriors back to life and attack the earth. But on his way to earth Megatron is intercepted by Optimus Prime and beaten to the death by him in a fight. In doing so, Optimus destroys the only space bridge to earth, whereby only a small group of Autobots on earth can protect people from the Decepticons lurking in the dark.

At the same time, the Autobots Arcee, Bulkhead and Bumblebee befriend three human children named Jack, Miko and Raf and cause chaos at the Autobot base.

season 1

After Megatron's death, Starscream took over the leadership of the Decepticons and plans to use the remaining energon to create his own army of the undead. After several skirmishes between the factions, Megatron returns and punishes Starscream for attempting to lead the Decepticons in his place. Meanwhile, the Decepticons are joined by more and more allies, such as the scientist Airachnid, the Doctor Knock Out and the warrior Breakdown, which make it all the more difficult for the Autobots to protect the human race. But an army called MECH also appears among the people and tries to steal the most dangerous weapons on earth, including the Autobots and Decepticons, under the direction of the terrorist Silas.

In the season finale, Optimus Prime and Megatron face each other again, but during their struggle a new power, long believed dead, appears: Unicron, the destroyer that was thrown into the infinite expanse of space by the first 13 transformers and forever in to float in the void of space. As it turns out, Unicron is the core of Earth and the only way to stop his awakening, which would destroy Earth, is to use the Autobot Matrix of Leadership against his Spark, the life spark of every Transformer. With the help of Megatron, Optimus manages to do this, but Optimus loses his memory and believes he is the young archivist Orion Pax, who once fought side by side with Megatron on Cybertron. Megatron takes his chance and can convince Optimus that the Autobots are their sworn enemies.
The season comes to an end when Optimus, now Orion Pax, joins Megatron on the Nemesis, the Decepticons' warship, and is introduced to the troops as a lost ally.

season 2

Orion Pax is now part of the Decepticon army and is working for Megatron on a decryption of old cybertronic records which reveal the positions of hidden weapons and energon stores. At the same time, the Autobots are preparing to travel to Cybertron so that Jack can use a key to activate the Vector Sigma supercomputer. This is supposed to restore Orion's memories of his life as Optimus Prime ...
As the season progresses, Optimus regains his memory and faces a much greater threat from MECH, who developed the technology to create their own Transformers, and the Protect Decepticons who use old Cybertron weapons for their own purposes. In the finale, Megatron manages to activate the Omega lock, which is supposed to revitalize Cybertron. But instead of using it to save his home planet, he abuses it to transform the earth into a new Cybertron. The Autobots are forced to destroy the Omega Lock to stop Megatron's madness, but even after this small victory, the Decepticons attack the Autobot base and appear to have even killed Optimus Prime ...

Season 3: Beast Hunters

While the remaining Autobots are gathering again on earth, the missing Shockwave, a scientist of the Decepticons, appears again and presents the Predacon Predaking Megatron, the optimal solution to hunt down the Autobots on earth and destroy them for good. At the same time, the Autobot scout Smokescreen was able to save the severely damaged Optimus Prime from the Decepticons and now has to make the decision whether to rebuild the Omega lock with the help of the blacksmith's hammer from Solus Prime , an old artifact from Cybertron, or whether to use Optimus' new powers Fight against the Decepticons is supposed to lend ...

characters

Autobots

Optimus Prime
Prior to the Great War for Cybertron, Optimus was known as Orion Pax and was one of the librarians of Iacon. He and Megatron were close allies, so Optimus often referred to him as his brother. Megatron's ideals, however, were tainted by the war, so that he and Optimus became bitter enemies. The war made Cybertron uninhabitable and Optimus decided to drop off with a group of Autobots on Earth to search for Energon so that they can revitalize Cybertron. On earth he got in contact with the authorities of the planet, which allowed him to settle on earth and search for energon. Now he's the leader of the justice-loving Autobots.
Arcee
On Cybertron, she was on a team with the Autobot Tailgate before they were both caught by Airachnid. Tailgate was killed during interrogation by the Decepticons because Arcee refused to reveal the information he wanted to destroy the Autobots. Shortly before she was supposed to be taken out, she was saved by Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.
On Earth she often worked with Cliffjumper until he was executed by the Decepticons, whereupon she swore revenge on the Decepticon who was responsible for Cliffjumper's death.
Bulkhead
Before turning into a warrior on Earth, he was a construction worker on Cybertron, known among the Autobots as an ignorant and clumsy Transformer. By chance he managed to become one of the Autobot Wreckers, through which he befriended Wheeljack, also one of the Wrecker. But he left the group to fly to earth with Optimus.
Bumblebee
He is the only Autobot that does not have the usual speech receptors and can therefore only communicate using distorted noises, which means that only other Autobots can understand him. Raf, one of the human children, seems to understand him that way. He also seems to be one of the few Autobots who understand people in their behavior.
Cliffjumper
He was a great Autobot warrior despite his size and bailed out a number of Autobots during the great war on Cybertron. Among them was Arcee, with whom he got along very well. On Earth he was often sent to search for Energon and was captured by the Decepticons in the process. Due to a remark to Starscream, he was killed by the latter and later his dead body was brought back to life by Megatron in the course of an experiment with the dark energon. As a cybertronian zombie, he attacked Megatron, but was finally destroyed by him.
Ratchet
During the great war he often fought side by side with Optimus against hordes of Decepticons and was also one of the first Autobots to accompany Optimus to Earth. There he took over the position of the team's doctor and therefore often remains at the Autobot base.
Tailgate
He was a member of the Delta team on Cybertron and was captured by the Decepticons himself while attempting to take out a sniper. During the interrogation, he was executed because Arcee did not want to tell the Decepticons the requested information.
Wheeljack
Like Bulkhead, he was originally on the Autobots' wrecker team until the planet became uninhabitable. Then he decided to travel through space alone until one day he landed on earth. There he was captured by the Decepticons until, with the help of the Autobots, he managed to escape. While on earth he wanted to ask Bulkhead to accompany him on his journey through space, but Bulkhead declined because he saw how sad it would make Miko, and Wheeljack stayed on earth.
Smokescreen
He was once a student of Alpha Trion, one of the 13 first Primes, before he was sent to Earth in a space capsule in the last war for Cybertron to support Optimus Prime in his fight against the Decepticons.
Ultras Magnus
Ultra Magnus is the first Autobot commander, leader of the Wreckers and former leader of the Elite Guard. Like all Autobots, Ultra Magnus had fled Cybertron for years in search of others and eventually surfaced on Earth and triggered Megatron's invasion, reuniting the Autobots and taking command in Optimus' absence. After Optimus returned, Magnus gave the leadership to Optimus, but he remained his second deputy. Although Magnus struggled to adjust to their family ways, especially Wheeljack, he learned to loosen up and became a more compassionate member of the team.

Decepticons

Megatron
Once known as Megatronus, he fought as a gladiator on Cybertron. He wanted to change Cybertron in order to restore the planet to its former prosperity. So he came in contact with Orion Pax, who shared his views. When he began to actively meddle in Cybertron politics, Megatronus renamed himself Megatron and stepped before the Cybertron Council to appoint him the next Prime. Since Megatron wanted to bring Cybertron back to his prosperity through tyranny and dictatorship, it was decided against his appointment and the title was instead given to the young Orion Pax, who was henceforth called Optimus Prime. Megatron then founded its own party on Cybertron called Decepticons and attacked the high council, which ultimately triggered the great war over Cybertron. When he realized that the war could not be won, he disappeared into the darkness of space in search of the fabulous dark energon. Years later, Megatron reappeared and began using the found dark energon to bring dead Decepticon and Autobot warriors back to life in order to conquer Earth. To get stronger himself, he also rammed a piece of dark energon into his chest, whereupon he got control of the cybertronian zombies. In a fight between him and Optimus, however, he was fatally wounded, whereupon his body fell into stasis in the vastness of space. There he was found by Starscream and brought back to Earth on the Decepticon spacecraft Nemesis, where Knock Out took care of his recovery until he was to wake up again.
Airachnid
On Cybertron, she was responsible for the Decepticon interrogation, which is how she met Arcee and Tailgate. She had Tailgate executed to get classified Autobot information from Arcee, but Arcee knew nothing of what mattered. After the great war she broke away from the Decepticons and began to take samples of all life forms in the universe in order to research them. In doing so, it also wiped out various species, always keeping one last survivor for testing. In the course of this, her spaceship landed on earth, where she rejoined the Decepticons after a fight with Arcee.
Breakdown
He was one of the Decepticons that Starscream summoned to Earth to Nemesis to search for Energon. He and Bulkhead know each other from the times of the great war on Cybertron and were bitter enemies even then.
Knock out
Together with Breakdown he was called to earth, but instead of looking for Energon, he was given the task of repairing the stasis Megatron and waking it up again. After his awakening, he took over the role of doctor on board the Nemesis, but is also often sent into the fight against the Autobots together with Breakdown.
Makeshift
Makeshift can change his appearance and voice to look like any other Transformer like the face. After the Decepticons captured Wheeljack, he took his place and was able to infiltrate the Autobots. When he tried to use the Earth Bridge to infiltrate the Autobot base with the Decepticons, he was attacked by the Autobots and completely destroyed in the course of an explosion.
Skyquake
On Cyberton, Skyquake was hired by Megatron to kill Optimus, but he failed. Starscream wanted Skyquake to demonstrate to the troops on Earth how a loyal warrior would behave, but Skyquake refused to demonstrate his loyalty to Starscream, as he would only be eternally loyal to Megatron. He then began to hunt and attack the Autobots on Earth. He was eventually overwhelmed by Bumblebee and went offline after crash landing. Some time later Starscream tried to bring him back to life using a sliver of the dark energon, but was attacked by Zombie Skyquake and lost an arm in the process. As a result of an earth bridge incident, he was thrown into the shadow zone of the earth, a kind of alternative dimension, where he is now wandering around without a goal.
Soundwave
As a communications officer for the Decepticons, he monitors virtually all radio waves on earth. One of Megatron's most loyal warriors, he is reluctant to follow Starscream's instructions during Megatron's absence. He never speaks himself, but communicates through recorded radio messages or conversations with other Decepticons.
Starscream
Before Starscream joined Megatron, he was the leader of the energon seekers on Cybertron, but when there was no more energon to be found on the planet, he became part of the Decepticon army and was made his deputy by Megatron while he was in space looking for the dark energon. After Megatron's return, Starscream began to deceive his master if possible, but had to realize after a long time that Megatron was far stronger than him and that he swore eternal loyalty to him. When Starscream was captured by the Autobots, he found that the Decepticons had no interest in his rescue, which is why he did not return to the Decepticons after his escape, but instead hid on earth to make plans of his own.
Shockwave
He is a senior scientist at Decepticon and tends to be "logical" with his reasons, decisions, or his own experiments. Shockwave had created an ancient incredible cybertronic technology that proved very useful against the Autobots. He is a skilled fighter that he uses for self-defense against anyone who dares to attack and kill him. Shockwave is responsible for many scientific endeavors such as Space Bridges, the Dinobots, Resurrection of the Predacons, construction of the Omega Lock 2.0 and, with Ratchet, the completion of the Synthetic Energon Formula. Shockwave was devoted to science and didn't get along well with Starscream.
Vehicons
The Vehicons are unnamed Decepticon units that are often sent into battle against the Autobots in order to overwhelm them. They are often referred to as eradicons.
Terrorcons
They are the Decepticons and Autobots resurrected by the dark energon, who no longer have a will of their own.
Dreadwing
He is Skyquake's twin brother and Megatron's deputy after Starscream turned his back on the Decepticons. Unlike his Decepticon brothers, however, he has a sense of honor and values a fair fight against his adversaries.
