Transformers: Generation 2 is an American animated series that is based on the Transformers toy series and was originally designed as an advertising medium for it.
Remake of the original
After Hasbro had discontinued the Transformers toy series in the USA in 1990 (in Europe, including Germany, however, this was continued with new characters), a new edition was tried from 1993 under the title Transformers: Generation 2. In the cartoon series of the same name were episodes of the original series that have been slightly reworked with computer effects and new sound effects. The order of the episodes differed from the order of the original series. A total of 52 revised episodes were broadcast in two seasons from 1993 to 1994.
In Germany, the series was shown for the first and only time in 1994, with only the first 26 episodes being dubbed and broadcast. By Generation 2 many episodes of the first and second season of the first series have been shown for the first time, in a CGI revised form. The original Transformers movie Transformers - The Battle for Cybertron was shown as a pilot for the series and therefore contains the voice actors for this series and not, as it should be, the original series.

A unique life form called Transformers lives on the planet Cybertron. These beings can transform themselves into vehicles, weapons and spaceships through a unique ability. But as in every world, there is war on Cybertron. A war that has raged for billions of years between the good-natured Autobots and the vicious Decepticons. But after billions of years of struggle, the energy resources on both sides are slowly drying up and there is still no end to the war in sight. So, Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, decides to go looking for new sources of energy with a few of his men.
But the Decepticons also get wind of Optimus Prime's new mission and so Megatron, the unscrupulous leader of the Decepticons, plans to pursue the Autobots and destroy them as soon as they have located the new energy source. During the journey to new sources of energy, the Ark, spaceship of the Autobots, and the Nemesis, ship of the Decepticons, get caught in a swarm of meteorites and are seriously damaged in the process. Megatron decides to board the Autobots spaceship and take it over, but during the takeover the ship has to crash-land on a small blue planet. Both factions are badly damaged in the crash and fall into sleep for a million years.
When a landslide was triggered in 1984, one of the Decepticons was brought back to life and began repairing its comrades using the Teletraan I Autobot computer. When all Decepticons have finally been brought back to life, they begin on the new unknown planet called Earth with the search for new sources of energy and raw materials for a new spaceship to bring them back to Cybertron. But the Autobots are also brought back to life and the war between good and evil begins again.
