Willy Schäfer

Willy Schäfer (born March 6, 1933 in Saarbrücken ; † May 6, 2011 in Munich ) was a German actor and voice actor .

Childhood and youth

Schäfer grew up as the middle son of a bank director in Saarbrücken with two siblings and went to school there. The French occupation of the Saarland from 1945 contributed to his fluency in French. In his youth he played soccer for 1. FC Saarbrücken .

The later years

A few years after graduating from high school, he went to Vienna in 1954 and studied drama at the Max Reinhardt Seminar . During this time he learned a. a. Klaus Löwitsch and Tommy Hörbiger know, from which a good friendship developed.

After numerous theater appearances and many supporting roles, he took on the role of detective assistant Berger at Derrick . In the episode "Mord im TEE 91" (1977), the first name of the role is Franz, but later Fritz Wepper accidentally addressed him with his real first name during a shoot, and so this was continued for the role.

Even if die-hard Derrick fans are more familiar with the role of the Bergers, it has made actor Willy Schäfer very much committed to them, which means that other roles have been limited to short appearances.

Like many actors, he was also very often active in the dubbing business and, in addition to many smaller ones, provided a number of very well-known films with his voice. Mainly he coordinated and cast numerous films and their speaking roles, e.g. B. The Exorcist and the dubbing of Das Boot .

Private

Willy Schäfer was married and lived in Munich , where he had settled since 1960 and was permanently settled because of his role in Derrick. He leaves a son.
