The lyrics of the song are in the military field.

“He who knows pain is dangerous.
From the fire that burns the mind,
bang, bang.
Dangerous, the burned child
With fire that separates from life.
A hot scream
bang, bang

Music video

The music video for Feuer frei! was also directed by Rob Cohen . The filming with the band took place between January 9th and 12th, 2002 in a dilapidated church in the village of Celná in the Czech Republic .

In the making-of for the video, the musicians report that numerous German and Czech Rammstein fans were hired for their performance, who mimed the audience in the film and for whom the band played the song countless times. Guitarist Paul Landers described the shoot as extremely hot, as the film crew member responsible for the pyro effects created such a strong wall of flames in the back of the band that it ultimately led to some burn marks on the musicians. In addition to the appearance of the band, the video also shows some scenes from the film xXx - Triple X with numerous explosions.

According to lead guitarist Richard Kruspe , the band was very satisfied with the video created by Cohen, which was released in September 2002 . From his point of view, it made the song even stronger.
