Links 2 3 4 is a song by German New German Hardness - band Rammstein . It was written by Rammstein and produced by Jacob Hellner together with the band. The song is the second single from their third studio album Mutter and was released on May 14, 2001.

content

Left 2 3 4 is Rammstein's reaction to the ongoing allegations of right-wing sentiments, which the band denies. The title itself is derived from the German bar counting during the march .

At the beginning of the song soldiers marching noises can be heard, the rhythm is energetic and driving. The lyrics themselves are filled with metaphors about the heart , which are questioned and begin with the lines:

"Can one break a heart?
Can hearts speak
Can one torment hearts?
Can you steal hearts? "

- Text excerpt from links 2 3 4

The refrain itself then refers to the allegations:

"You want my heart in the right place, but
then I look down
, there it beats left
left, two, three, four"

- Text excerpt from links 2 3 4

Paul Landers explained about the song:

“We see the world differently than divided into left and right. But for this song we use the simple black and white metaphors that journalists seem to find important to explain to us. "

Music video

The music video for Links 2 3 4 was shot by Zoran Bihać and premiered on May 18, 2001.

It shows an ant town that is characterized by community and solidarity. She is attacked by large beetles during a Rammstein concert . The ants then organize themselves and, after being sworn in by the ant handler, counterattack the beetles and defeat them in the end. In the video, the ants as a fighting formation form the “+” sign typical of Rammstein.
