Pussy is a song by the new German hardship band Rammstein . It is the first single from the album Love Is For All and was released on September 18, 2009. The music and lyrics are from Rammstein himself, the production was done by Rammstein and Jacob Hellner . On the corresponding cover, the heads of the band members are mounted on naked female bodies, which stand in front of a black background.

text

The text is half German and half English. The song is about sex tourism and the cliché of Germans as sex tourists . It is ironically conveyed that the named sex tourist cannot find a sexual partner at home himself.

"So Take Me Now,
Oh Don't You See,
I Can't Get Laid in Germany ..."

- Refrain, original excerpt

Its effect was reinforced by the fact that a large number of German words were used in the German-language passages, which are used in English as loan words and also serve German clichés, such as Autobahn , Blitzkrieg , Bratwurst or Sauerkraut . These words in the lyrics are used in completely strange or unexpected contexts, so that a German-speaking listener can still guess the meaning, but only these signal words remain understandable for English-speaking listeners: "Schöne Fräulein, lust for more, Blitzkrieg with the meat gun" ( Rammstein ).

The lyrics to the song were originally written in German by Till Lindemann and based on his poem Was ich liebe .

There is a purely English-language demo version of Pussy , from whose text only the refrain for the album version from 2009 was taken over. The stanzas were rewritten at Richard Kruspe's work. In addition, this darker sounding version was based on a different melody. The latter appeared later with a new text under the title Give me your eyes .

publication

The single is available as a download, maxi single, 7 ″ and 12 ″ single. The maxi single and the 12 ″ contain the song “Rammlied” as the B-side. The 12 ″ vinyl edition is available in a clear plastic case, while the 7 ″ comes as a card sleeve and the maxi single as a digipack. The number of pieces of the 12 "is limited to 2000 hand-numbered units, the 7" to 3000 copies.

Music video

The video was shot by Jonas Åkerlund in Atelier II of the Havelstudios in the Berlin-Westend district and celebrated its official premiere on September 16, 2009 on a Dutch erotic portal. On the one hand you can see how the band - dressed in black leather - sings and plays the song in a studio, on the other hand the musicians can be seen in six porn episodes. You can see: Till Lindemann as playboy, Christoph Schneider as CEO, Paul Landers as cowboy, Oliver Riedel as SM fetishist, Richard Kruspe party boy and Christian "Flake" Lorenz as transsexual ("Heeshie"). All six sequences show how the band members seduce women into sex or are seduced by them. This part of the video was shot in a brothel in Berlin-Charlottenburg with professional male and female porn actors. The porn actress Sophie Logan took part in the filming. For the sex scenes, all band members were doubled, they just had to imitate the facial expressions. The heads of the musicians were later mounted on the bodies of their doubles. When asked how the shooting was, Paul Landers told the FAZ in 2009:

“At first a bit like a dentist. We sat in this brothel in Charlottenburg and had to answer one by one. I was scared and drank courage. But I would not have thought how objectively something like that would work. Purely mechanical. "

- Paul Landers, rhythm guitarist

The video is still officially available - outside of relevant channels - in the censored version, and in the DVD "Rammstein Videos 1995-2012" released in 2012 it is only contained in the blurred version.

Live performance

Like most of Rammstein's songs, Pussy premiered at an exclusive fan concert in Berlin in October 2009 . During the Love Is For Everyone tour from 2009 to 2011, Pussy was the last song on the main set of concerts. During the performance of the song, Till Lindemann sat on a large foam cannon disguised as a penis and shot foam at the front rows of the audience, after which confetti, often in the colors of the German national flag, was shot into the audience.
