song

The refrain is based heavily on The Moritat by Mackie Messer from Brecht's Threepenny Opera, which premiered in 1928 .

"And the shark, he has teeth
and he wears them on his face
and Macheath, he has a knife
but you can't see the knife."

- Mackie Messer’s morality

"And the shark, he has tears
and they run down his face
but the shark lives in the water
so you can't see the tears."

- shark

The text of the stanzas is primarily based on the word "hold" and its modifications. For example in the first stanza:

“We stick together.
We endure each other.
We stick to each other,
nobody stops us.

We are loyal to you.
We stick to it
and stick to the rules
if they let us be regulated. "

Music video

Marquardt Castle

The music video was first shown on Friday April 23, 2010 on the band's official MySpace page. The video was again developed together with director Joern Heitmann . The shooting location was Marquardt Castle near Potsdam , and the shooting took place on November 2, 2009.

There are numerous references to media events in the video. At the beginning, the sexual abuse scandal of the Catholic Church is briefly alluded to by the priest stroking a little boy's head.

The video deliberately contradicts the lyrics in which the group is sung about as a firmly cohesive unit in which each other is always taken into consideration.

The video shows Till Lindemann's funeral , to which, in addition to numerous women and children - presumed former love affairs between Lindemann and the children he conceived - Marilyn Manson (a double) and other prominent mourners as well as the remaining five band members appear. They accept the condolences with serious expressions in order to discuss a successor to Lindemann in unobserved moments. To do this, look at photos by Henry Rollins and James Hetfield . There is an argument between two ex-Lindemanns who degenerates into fights in front of the closed coffin that is laid out. Another female mourner is on the phone during the coffin procession, while a second woman traces her lips. A third person urinates behind a tree in the cemetery.

The remaining band members are also disingenuous to one another. All five assume that Lindemann was killed and suspect each other. For this purpose, scenes from old Rammstein videos ( You have ; Without you ; America ; No desire and sun ) are taken up and reinterpreted in such a way that each of the five would have had a reason or an opportunity to murder. Two murders of Till Lindemann are also based on classic films such as Reservoir Dogs and Sieben .

At the funeral feast, there is a fight between the two guitarists that spreads to all members. At the end of this, Christian “Flake” Lorenz falls into Lindemann's grave and smashes the lid of the coffin. He discovers, amazed, that the coffin is empty. This is followed by a change of scene to the Hawaiian island of Oahu . You can see how a mustached Till Lindemann (accompanied by a woman) sends a postcard with the text “Greetings from the ass of the world” to the other band members.
