Romeo Santos (born July 21, 1981 in New York ; actually Anthony Santos ) is an American Latin singer (mainly Bachata ), who became known as a member of the band Aventura .

biography

Romeo Santos was born and raised in the New York Bronx as the son of a Dominican and a Puerto Rican. In his childhood he sang in the church choir and then founded the Latino boy group Aventura with his cousin Henry Santos and two brothers Lenny and Max Santos, who come from Puerto Rico. After the band decided to split up in 2010, a solo single You appeared in May 2011 - completely in the sound of Aventura, so he began a solo career.

His first solo album, Formula: Vol. 1 , which he wrote mostly himself, was released that same year and topped the Latin charts in the US and made it into the top 10 on the Billboard 200 . It received a 3 × platinum award . With the songs You , Promise , Mi santa and La diabla , the album produced four top performers in the Hot Latin Songs . In addition, big names like Drake, Usher and Nicki Minaj were represented in the album. The album received a Grammy nomination in the Tropical Latin category .

In autumn 2013 his second album Formula: Vol. 2 was released . Before that, the single Propuesta indecente again reached number 1 in the Latin charts.
