Lunay is a French commune with a population of 1,267 (as at 1st January 2017) in the Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Vendôme and the canton of Montoire-sur-le-Loir (until 2015: canton of Savigny-sur-Braye ). The inhabitants are called Lunotiers .

Lunay is about 39 kilometers northwest of Blois . Lunay is surrounded by the neighboring communities Savigny-sur-Braye in the north and northwest, henceforth in the north, Mazangé in the east and northeast, Thoré-la-Rochette in the east and southeast, Saint-Rimay in the south, Les Roches-l'Évêque and Montoire -sur-le-Loir in the southwest and Fontaine-les-Coteaux in the west.
