Administratively it is assigned to the canton of Le Perche (until 2015: canton of Droué ) and the arrondissement of Vendôme . The inhabitants are called Boursayens .

Boursay is about 61 kilometers north-northwest of Blois in the Le Perche countryside . Boursay is surrounded by the neighboring communities Couëtron-au-Perche in the north and northwest, La Fontenelle in the north and northeast, Droué in the east and northeast, La Chapelle-Vicomtesse in the southeast and Choue in the south and west.
