Sargé-sur-Braye is a French commune with 1,041 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . The place is in the valley of the Braye , at the confluence of its tributary Grenne .

history

The Château des Radrets belongs to Sargé-sur-Braye and has the most completely preserved defenses of the Vendômois (16th to 17th centuries). The château itself dates from the 15th-16th centuries. Century. It is connected by a small bridge to the Basse-cour, the lower courtyard, on which the Manoir de Tesnay stood before the château was built, the first known structure at this point.

The ensemble belonged as Château de la Berruère (or de la Bruère) until the 16th century to the family of the same name, from which Beatrix de la Berruère (1294–1348) is best known, the lover of King Philip VI. of France (1293-1350). In 1522 the castle was sold to Jean d'Illiers. His descendants gave the facility its new name in 1677. In 1765 the castle was bought by Anne Racine, a granddaughter of Jean Racine .
