Scary Movie 4 is a horror comedy released in 2006. It is a sequel to Scary Movie , Scary Movie 2, and Scary Movie 3 . In 2013 the fifth part, Scary Movie 5, was released .

The basketball player Shaquille O'Neal and moderator Dr. Phil are tied up in a dungeon . The clown Billy reports on a screen and tells them that the room is filling up with a nerve gas and that they have 120 seconds to get the antidote. Shaquille has to sink a stone in the basketball hoop to get a saw. However, Dr. Phil offended and both prisoners died.
Cindy Campbell's husband George has died and her nephew Cody is attending a military academy , which is why she is lonely herself. She visits her brother-in-law Tom Logan, who is currently unhappy despite three beautiful women in bed. He tries to kill himself with an overdose of pills, but accidentally swallows Viagra and gets a huge erection . With the power ahead, he falls to his death from a window. Cindy takes a job with a nursing service and is sent to the elderly Mrs. Norris. She lives in a cursed house and on the first visit, the boss, Mr. Koji, can hardly hide the ghost of Toshio Saeki. In the neighboring house lives the overstrained crane operator Tom Ryan, who has just learned that George's friends Mahalik and CJ had a homosexual encounter. He has two children but lives separately.
The next day, Cindy and Tom fall in love. She tells him about the horror in the house and about her boxing match against Tiffany Stone. While Stone bit off the ear of various people, George and several other viewers died from Cindy's mistake, which led to fatal neck breaks . After a violent storm, tripods, gigantic alien robots with three legs, appear in the city and destroy the first inhabitants. Cindy meets Toshio Saeki at Mrs. Norris' house. She speaks in silly Japanese to the ghost who tells her the answer is in his father's heart.
Tom leaves town with his children, but loses his car. Cindy meets her old friend Brenda Meeks, who works as a reporter. With an ignition coil , the two women get a working car. According to Toshio, they drive into the country and arrive at a strange village whose inhabitants are reminiscent of the Amish . They are arrested as strangers and taken to court. Henry Hale is afraid of the unspeakable. The council of elders acquitted Cindy and Brenda, but they are no longer allowed to leave the village. Meanwhile, US President Harris has to leave a My Pet Duck reading and come to a United Nations meeting . There he presents a weapon against the tripods, but the machine makes sure that Baxter and all the other participants are suddenly naked.
Tom and the children get caught up in a war between the US military and the aliens. Robbie runs away because he wants to help the soldiers. In the village, Henry is stabbed to death by the village idiot Ezekiel. As he dies, he tells Cindy that he is Toshio's father and that he died in a boxing match.
Tom and Rachel are caught by a tripod that also absorbs Cindy and Brenda. You get tied up in the same dungeon as Shaquille O'Neal and Dr. Phil. Billy urges Cindy to get a key out from behind her eye, which she can do because it's a glass eye . Tom and the children fall into a new trap. In a toilet, Cindy sees a heart and realizes that Billy fathered Toshio with Henry's wife. Brenda approaches Billy's brother Zoltar. Billy is impressed with the children's forgiveness, apologizes and releases the prisoners. The invasion ends, and Robbie and Rachel join their mother, who has married an old man.
Nine months later, James tells Earl Jones that Brenda has a child with Zoltar, Mahalik and CJ are continuing their relationship, and Harris is in love with a duck. Then Jones is run over by a bus. Tom appears at Oprah Winfrey and goes completely crazy when he talks about his love for Cindy.

Like its predecessors, so is this film a parody with numerous allusions to other known productions mainly from the genre of the horror film . This time the Spielberg remake War of the Worlds and the film The Grudge form the central basis . Furthermore, the films The Village , Saw and Saw II , The Forbidden Key , Dark Water , The Ring , Brokeback Mountain , Land of the Dead , Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back , Hustle & Flow , 8 Mile and Million Dollar Baby parodies as well as the then President of the United States, George W. Bush , singer Michael Jackson , the iPod and the appearance of Tom Cruise at Oprah Winfrey . In addition, in a short scene, the US series King of Queens and Lost are fooled.
- Scary Movie 4 is the second film in the series in which the character Brenda Meeks does not die. She last survived the second film.
- For the first time ever, two celebrities, in this case Shaquille O'Neal and Phil McGraw , play themselves in the opening sequence of one of the series' films.
- The washroom that is the scene of the parody of the film Saw was used for flashbacks in Saw III ; it is cheaper to use it than to make a replica again, said director Darren Lynn Bousman in an audio commentary on the DVD for Saw III .

Reviews
James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film was better than Scary Movie 3 , which he relativized by the derogatory evaluation of the earlier film. Critical he noticed the numerous cameos ( "cameos of the low-rent sort") and wrote that the "quality" of the film put a distribution only in the video stores close ( "the quality is strictly direct-to-video").
“The quality of a parody is mainly determined by the originality of the jokes. Even if the selection of satirized films and events is very original, it is not continuously accompanied by witty jokes or big thigh thumps. Instead, the film relies too often on cheap gags and misses an important part of its comedy in the trailer . So “Scary Movie 4” clearly falls short of its potential and is more of a film for fans of the series. Because if you really laughed at "Scary Movie 3", you will surely find enough reason to laugh at the fourth part of the series. "

At first, another sequel seemed unlikely. In June 2011 the Weinstein Company officially confirmed that Scary Movie 5 would hit theaters on April 20, 2013. Anna Faris (Cindy) should take over the lead role again. Also, Regina Hall (Brenda) should be back with us. Scream 4 , Paranormal Activity , Silent Hill , The Hills have Eyes and House of Wax are parodied . In April 2012, Weinstein announced that the director of Undercover Brother , Malcolm D. Lee , will direct. David Zucker , the director of Scary Movie 3 and 4, took on the post of producer and co-screenwriter.
In June 2012 it was announced that filming for the fifth part would not start until the summer of the same year. The film hit theaters on April 25, 2013, with Ashley Tisdale starring in that film as Anna Faris was pregnant at the time of shooting.
