Craig Bierko (born August 18, 1964 in Rye Brook , New York ) is an American actor .

Life

Craig Bierko was born in Rye Brook, Westchester County, to Pat and Rex Bierko. His parents ran a local theater. His mother was a native Jew , but converted to Christianity . After high school , Bierko studied journalism at Boston University and languages ​​at the School of Speech at Northwestern University .

Bierko's big breakthrough as an actor came in 1990 with the sitcom Sydney , in which he starred alongside Valerie Bertinelli and Matthew Perry in one of the leading roles. He then became an active television actor and has appeared on series such as High Flyer and Ally McBeal .

In addition to his television career, Bierko also appears regularly in films. He played one of his most famous film roles in 1997 in the action film Deadly Christmas , where he could be seen as Timothy . In 2005 he played the boxer Max Baer in the boxer drama Das Comeback . For this role he had to train himself a lot of muscle in order to be able to embody the boxer credibly. A year later he played the character Tom Ryan in the film parody Scary Movie 4 , who recreates the part of Tom Cruise from the film War of the Worlds in a parodistic manner.

Bierko was originally slated for the role of Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom Friends . He turned down the role, however, and his former series colleague Matthew Perry took over. In the fourth season of Sex and the City , he played one of Carrie Bradshaw's short-term lovers ( Sarah Jessica Parker ). In 2006 he appeared in Boston Legal as attorney Jeffrey Coho .

Bierko was originally supposed to star in To Be or Not to Be on Broadway at the Manhattan Theater Club , but withdrew from the production in 2008 for undisclosed reasons. In 2009 he appeared in the musical Guys and Dolls in the leading role of Sky Materson . The musical was performed in New York's Nederlander Theater .

Bierko was voted Sexiest Broadway Star by People Magazine in November 2000 .
