Jordan M. Reed (born July 3, 1990 in New London , Connecticut ) is an American football player on the tight end position . He played college football for the Florida Gators . In the 2013 NFL Draft , he was drafted 85th by the Washington Redskins . He is currently a free agent .
College career
Reed accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida , where he played for Coach Urban Meyer and Coach Will Muschamp from 2009 to 2012. Originally recruited as a quarterback , he didn't play a single game in his freshman season. After the 2009 season, he moved to the tight-end position. Reed finished his three seasons in college with 78 passes caught for 938 yards and six touchdowns . He decided to forego his senior year of college and enroll in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Professional career
2013
Reed was selected 85th in the third round by the Washington Redskins in the 2013 NFL Draft. On May 24, 2013, he officially signed a four-year rookie contract with the team.
On September 15, 2013, Reed scored his first touchdown against the Green Bay Packers . That touchdown made him the first Redskins rookie since 2004 to score a touchdown within the first two games. On October 20, 2013 Reed achieved a career best, he came on nine passes caught for 134 yards and a touchdown against the Chicago Bears. He set a new Redskins franchise record for most yards caught by a Redskins rookie tight end and his first 100-yard-plus game. On November 11, 2013, Reed was removed from the game after suffering a concussion in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles . He was put on the injured list after missing four consecutive games due to a post-concussion headache. Despite his only nine games, four of them as a starter, he was appointed to the PFWA All Rookie Team in his first season.
2014
On September 7, 2014, Reed was injured with a leg injury in the game against the Houston Texans . On October 12, 2014, Reed caught eight passes for 92 yards against the Arizona Cardinals . On November 16, 2014, Reed suffered another leg injury while playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . On November 30, 2014, Reed caught nine passes for 123 yards against the Indianapolis Colts , for his second 100-yard-plus game in his career.
2015
On September 13, 2015, Reed caught seven passes for 63 yards and his first touchdown of the season against the Miami Dolphins . On October 25, 2015, Reed caught a personal record of 11 passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . On November 15, 2015, Reed caught two more touchdowns against the New Orleans Saints . On November 29, 2015, Reed caught eight passes for 98 yards against the New York Giants . On December 13, 2015, Reed caught nine passes for 120 yards and a touchdown against the Chicago Bears , making it his third 100-yard-plus game of his career. On December 20, 2015, Reed caught 7 passes for 84 yards against the Buffalo Bills . On December 26, 2015, Reed caught 129 yards and two touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC East . In his first playoff game , Reed caught nine passes for 120 yards and a touchdown against Green Bay Packers . He was ranked 77th on the 2016 NFL Top 100 Players.
2019
Reed completely missed the 2019 season following a concussion in the third game of the preseason . He was released by the Redskins on February 20, 2020.
