NBA Draft 2019
The 2019 NBA Draft took place on June 20, 2019 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn , New York . In two draft rounds, the 30 NBA teams were able to secure the rights to 60 young players from college leagues (mostly from the NCAA ) and abroad.
In the draft lottery on May 14, 2019, the final selection order was determined. The 14 teams that did not qualify for the playoffs of the 2018/19 season took part in this weighted lottery . The New Orleans Pelicans won the lottery, with a 6.0% chance of first choice , ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies (6.0%) and the New York Knicks (14.0%). The American combo forward Zion Williamson was the favorite for the first pick . Williamson was then selected as the first player in the draft by the New Orleans Pelicans.
All players who signed up for the draft had to be born before December 31, 2000, regardless of their school education or nationality. If they were not an "international player," it must have been at least a year between their registration date and their final high school year.
