Alen Smailagić (born August 18, 2000 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian basketball player .

Life

Smailagić played for KK Beko in his hometown of Belgrade until 2018. In 2018 he decided to go to the United States . In the draft proceedings of the NBA G-League , the South Bay Lakers secured the rights to the Serbs, he was called up as the fourth player. South Bay gave the player to the Santa Cruz Warriors , where Smailagić played in the 2018/19 season. He was the youngest player ever to be used in the league at the time. He was on the field in 47 games for Santa Cruz and scored an average of 9.1 points and 4 rebounds per encounter. In June 2019, the Serb was selected 39th in the NBA draft process by the New Orleans Pelicans and then passed on to the Golden State Warriors . He moved up from the Californian training team to the NBA squad after signing a four-year contract in July 2019.
