Marquese De'Shawn Chriss (born July 2, 1997 in Sacramento , California ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA .

Career

college

Chriss played for the Huskies at the University of Washington for a year . There he scored 13.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks on average. Although he was initially not considered a top talent for the NBA draft , his reputation rose after he played an impressive game against the University of California, Berkeley for star player Jaylen Brown . After the season he decided to sign up for the NBA draft. Chriss was considered one of the most athletic players before the draft and drew comparisons to Shawn Marion , Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Kemp .

NBA

In the 2016 NBA draft , Chriss was selected eighth by the Sacramento Kings , but shortly after his selection, transferred to the Phoenix Suns for the draft rights to Georgios Papagiannis , Skal Labissière and Bogdan Bogdanović . At the Suns, Chriss meets a young and talented team that is in the process of being rebuilt and with Dragan Bender and Devin Booker can boast two other top talents. In his debut season in all 82 games was used, scoring 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game and was named after the season 2016/17 to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team appointed.

In his second year, Chriss stagnated and only scored 7.7 points on average. In the summer of 2018 he was transferred to the Houston Rockets along with Brandon Knight for the rights to De'Anthony Melton and Ryan Anderson . Chriss saw little playing time with the Rockets and after less than half a year was passed on to the Cleveland Cavaliers , where he was used more often.
