Ryan Anderson (born May 6, 1988 in Sacramento , California ) is an American basketball player who is currently a free agent . Anderson is considered a good three-way shooter , especially for a player of his position and height.

Career

From 2006 to 2008, Anderson was active for the college team at the University of California, Berkeley , the California Golden Bears . In his sophomore year he was top scorer of the Pacific-10 Conference , but did not qualify with his team for the NCAA tournament .

NBA

In the 2008 NBA draft , Anderson was selected in 21st place by the New Jersey Nets , for which he played for a year. This was followed by a move to the Orlando Magic , with which he immediately reached the final series of the Eastern Conference . After his playing time had already increased during the 2010/11 season , Anderson established himself in the following season as one of the most consistent scorers of his team.

In the 2011/12 season, Anderson increased his statistical values, which is why he was named NBA Most Improved Player .

For the 2012/13 season Anderson moved within the league and signed a contract with the New Orleans Hornets . For this he played four years, mostly as a substitute player and mostly with injury problems. Anderson joined the Houston Rockets in the summer of 2016 . Anderson acted as nominal power forward for two years with the Rockets and reached the conference finals with the Rockets in both years.

In the summer of 2018 he was transferred to the Phoenix Suns along with the rights to De'Anthony Melton for Marquese Chriss and Brandon Knight .
