In the 76ers, Barros was promoted to the starting grid. He increased his statistics to 13 points and 5  assists per game.

In his second year with the Sixers, Barros had his breakthrough. He managed a 50-point game against the Houston Rockets in the 1994-95 season , and a few weeks later he scored a triple double against the Orlando Magic with 25 points, 10  rebounds and 15 assists . After the season he moved to his hometown Boston as a free agent for the Boston Celtics . At the Celtics, he came mostly off the bench as the “sixth man” and averaged around 10 points in five years. In the summer of 2000 he moved to the Detroit Pistons , where he played for two years. He returned to the Celtics in 2004 and played one game before finally ending his career.

In his career he scored 10.5 points, 3.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds on average. Despite his small size for basketball, Barros hit a respectable 46% of his field throws and 41% of his three-point throws during his career.
