Kehinde Babatunde "Victor" Oladipo (born May 4, 1992 in Silver Spring , Maryland ) is an American basketball player . He was selected second in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic and has been NBA All-Star twice in his career , as well as Most Improved Player in the 2018 season . career

Oladipo grew up as the youngest of three children as the son of Nigerian immigrants with his parents and two older sisters in Maryland , USA. The younger of the two sisters has been deaf since she was eight.

Oladipo played for three years at Indiana University , where he was one of the best players alongside Cody Zeller . On April 9, 2013, he announced that he would no longer attend college, but would rather enroll in the NBA draft .

NBA

On June 27, 2013, he was pulled second by the Orlando Magic , behind Anthony Bennett . In December 2013 he managed his first triple-double in the NBA in the Magic game with the Philadelphia 76ers with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists . It was the first game in NBA history where two rookies could do it at the same time (the other was Philadelphia's Michael Carter-Williams ).

In his first NBA season, Oladipo played 31.1 minutes per game, got 13.8 points, 4.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds on average and was only missing in two games. Of the 2013/14 NBA rookies, only Michael Carter-Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers scored a better points average with 16.7. As a result, Oladipo ended up in second place in the 2014 NBA rookie of the year and only had to admit defeat to Carter-Williams.

Oladipo took part in the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and finished second behind Zach LaVine .

Oladipo was swapped for Serge Ibaka as part of the 2016 NBA draft together with Ersan Ilyasova and the draft rights to Domantas Sabonis . In October 2016, Oladipo signed an 84 million four-year deal with the Thunder. Oladipo only stayed with Thunder for a year and was passed on to the Indiana Pacers for Paul George in the summer of 2017, again together with Sabonis . Oladipo celebrated his breakthrough at the Pacers and was not only invited to the NBA All-Star Game for the first time in 2018 , but was also elected to the All-NBA Third Team and the NBA All-Defensive First Team . On December 10, 2017, he achieved his career high with 47 points in the win against the Denver Nuggets . In addition, at the end of the season he won the election for the player with the greatest performance progress of the year ( Most Improved Player Award ). With 23.1 points, 4.3 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game, Oladipo recorded his previous career best in all categories. With 2.4 steals per game, he even led the league as the best “ball thief”.

In the 2018/19 season, Oladipo only played 36 games of the season before he suffered a serious knee injury during a season game and was out for the rest of the season. With 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game, he was able to increase his values from the previous season to new career highs. The participation in the All-Star Game, for which he was nominated for the second time, he had to cancel due to injury.

His return to the floor didn't take place until a year later: On January 30, 2020, Oladipo returned to the game against the Chicago Bulls , scoring 9 points for the Pacers.

The Masked Singer

From September to December 2019, Oladipo, who had already appeared musically in the past, took part as Thingamajig in the second season of the US offshoot of The Masked Singer and was eliminated in the semifinals in fifth place.
