Ersan İlyasova (born May 15, 1987 in Eskişehir , Turkey ) is a Turkish basketball player who is currently active for the Milwaukee Bucks in the North American professional league NBA .

Career

Turkey

In 2004 he began his professional career with the Turkish first division club Ülkerspor , where he was also used in games in the ULEB Euroleague . In 2006 he was runner-up at the U-20 European Championship with Turkey, and he was elected MVP of the tournament. On August 3, 2011 İlyasova decided to play at Anadolu Efes SK during the NBA lockout phase . He returned to the NBA after the lockout ended.

NBA

In the 2005 NBA Draft , he was selected as the 36th player by the Milwaukee Bucks . The following season he played in the NBA Development League for the Tulsa 66ers , a farm team for the Milwaukee Bucks. On February 19, 2012 he scored 29 points and 25 rebounds (including 13 offensive rebounds) in the game against the New Jersey Nets . These are both career bests for him. He is only the 17th player who has managed to achieve 25+ points and 25+ rebounds in one game. Two weeks later, in the game against the Chicago Bulls , he increased his career best in points to 32. On March 12, 2012, he received the award for best player of the week in the Eastern Conference . In the last four games between March 5 and 11, he averaged 25.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

FC Barcelona

In 2007 Ilyasova signed a 2-year contract in Spain with the basketball department of FC Barcelona. He was mostly one of the players in the starting five and was able to convince both in the league and in the Euroleague with good performances.

Back in the NBA

In 2009 Ilyasova signed a new contract with the NBA and returned to the Milwaukee Bucks. He scored 10.4 points per game, grabbed 6.4 rebounds on average and was in the starting line-up in 31 of 81 games. He played for the Bucks until 2015, for which he scored 10.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in seven years. In 2010, 2013 and 2015 he reached the playoffs with the Bucks, but never got past the first playoff round with the Bucks.

On June 11, 2015 İlyasova was against Shawne Williams and Caron Butler to the Detroit Pistons traded and in February 2016 along with Brandon Jennings for Tobias Harris to the Orlando Magic made. However, Ilyasova only stayed until summer before he was passed on to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of the 2016 NBA Draft .

Shortly after the start of the 2016/17 season, Ilyasova was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on November 1, 2016 in exchange for Jerami Grant .

On February 22, 2017, Ilyasova was transferred to the Atlanta Hawks . In return, the Philadelphia 76ers Center received Tiago splinters .

After Ilyasova was fired from the Atlanta Hawks on February 26, 2018 , he returned to the Philadelphia 76ers on February 28 .

National team

Ilyasova has been playing for the Turkish national basketball team since 2006 . With this he won the silver medal at the 2010 Basketball World Cup .
