Reino Paasilinna

Reino Kalervo Paasilinna (born December 5, 1939 on the Arctic Ocean ) is a Finnish politician .

His family comes from Petsamo and fled during the Winter War from the Soviet troops on the Aunus, a ship that was near the Norwegian coast at the time of his birth, to the Finnish-Sami Kittilä . His brothers are the authors Erno Paasilinna , Arto Paasilinna and Mauri Paasilinna .

Reino Paasilinna sat from 1996 to 2009 for the Social Democratic Party of Finland , which is part of the PES , in the European Parliament . There he was a member of the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy . He was a deputy member of the Committee on Culture and Education and the Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Central America, and Vice-Chair of the Delegation of the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
