Kyle Eliott Korver (born March 17, 1981 in Lakewood , California ) is an American basketball player who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA . He is best known as an excellent distance shooter . During the 2009/10 NBA season , Korver achieved a three-point rate of 53.64% as a player in the Utah Jazz , setting a new league record. In the 2014/15 season Korver was the NBA All-Star team selected.
Career
College and draft
Korver played basketball at Creighton University in Omaha , Nebraska until he was selected 51st in the 2003 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets . The Nets later traded these rights on to the Sixers.
NBA
At the Sixers, Korver broke through in his sophomore year. He established himself as a good shooter with the Sixers. In the 2006/07 season he scored 14.4 points coming from the bench and led the league with 91.4% free throws hit.
In December 2007 Korver was transferred to the Utah Jazz . With the jazz he reached the playoffs three times in a row between 2008 and 2010. In the 2009/10 season Korver was able to achieve a record from the three-point line. He finished the regular season with an average of 53.64%, with which he achieved the highest rate of all players and also set a new NBA record in the category with the highest three-point hit rate in a season. At Jazz, Korver mainly played the role of the bank scorer.
From the 2010/11 season Korver played for the Chicago Bulls , from which he was transferred to the Atlanta Hawks on July 16, 2012 for Kirk Hinrich .
In the Hawks, Korver was allowed to appear regularly as a starter for the first time since his time with the Sixers. In the 2013/14 season he led the NBA with 47.2% hit three-point throws. In 2015 Korver was invited to the NBA All-Star Game . He replaced the injured Dwyane Wade . At 33 years and 11 months, he was the fourth oldest all-star debutant in NBA history. With the Hawks, he put on the best season record in the Eastern Conference in the 2014/15 season . Korver had a large share of this with 49.2% hit three-point throws, in which he again led the league. Korver also received the 2015 NBA Sportsmanship Award for exemplary behavior.
Korver held the record with the highest number of three-point throws hit in consecutive games until February 25, 2016. By March 6, 2014, he had scored at least one three-point throw in 127 games in a row. In the game against the Portland Trail Blazers , that record ended when he couldn't convert any of his five throws from the line of three. Stephen Curry set this record on February 24, 2016, only to break it a day later.
On January 7, 2017, Korver was transferred to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Mike Dunleavy Jr. , Mo Williams and a future first-round pick .
After LeBron James left in summer 2018, the Cavaliers were looking for a buyer for Korver in the course of their rebuilding and found him in Utah Jazz . At the end of November, Korver moved to his former team as part of a trade, for which he was active from 2007 to 2010. In return, Alec Burks and future draft picks moved to the Cavaliers.
