James Khristian Middleton (born August 12, 1991 in Charleston , South Carolina ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA .
NBA
After three years at Texas A&M , Middleton was selected 39th by the Detroit Pistons in the 2012 NBA Draft . Middleton appeared in 21 games and averaged 6.1 points in his rookie year . Parallel to his NBA engagement, Middleton also played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League D-League .
On July 31, 2013, he was sold to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a transfer . Here he made his breakthrough in the first year. He started in 64 of 82 games, averaging 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 30 minutes of use. He hit a respectable 41.4% from the three-point line and 86.1% from the free-throw line.
In the summer of 2015, Middleton signed a contract extension with the Bucks that guaranteed him $ 70 million for five years. The 2017-18 season was particularly strong for Middleton. He scored 20.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists in all 82 games. With the Bucks he reached the playoffs, but retired with these in the first round. In 2019, Middleton's first nomination for the NBA All-Star Game followed . With the Bucks he played one of the best seasons in franchise history, in which they took first place in the Eastern Conference and where he played a decisive role with 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. In the playoffs he reached the conference finals with the Bucks, where they lost to the Toronto Raptors .
