Irmgard Heilmann

Irmgard Heilmann (born May 20, 1919 in Zeitz ; † July 8, 1993 in Hamburg ) was a German publisher and writer .

Life

The bankruptcy of her father's construction company forced Irmgard Heilmann and her family to leave the familiar Zeitz area. She lived on Sylt until 1953 , then in Hamburg, where she ran her own publishing house until 1973 . She was a founding member of the "Federal Association of German Authors" and initiator of the Irmgard Heilmann Prize , which is awarded at irregular intervals by the non-profit foundation she established for the promotion of literature and young literary talent in Hamburg.
