NBA career

In the 2008 NBA draft , he was selected 10th by the New Jersey Nets . In his first year he was able to achieve an average of 13.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.8 shot blocks per game with an average playing time of 30.5 minutes . For these services he was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . In the following year he increased his values to 18.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. But the team did not succeed. In the 2010/11 season Lopez scored 20.4 points and again led the team as the top scorer. Due to injuries, Lopez only played 5 games during the 2011-12 season .

In summer 2012, Lopez signed a 61 million US dollar -Vertrag, spread over four years. After the Nets moved to Brooklyn, Lopez was back on track. Lopez was also called to replace the injured Rajon Rondo for the NBA All-Star Game . He scored 3 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists .

In mid-December 2013 Lopez broke his foot, which had already been injured in 2011, in the game against the Philadelphia 76ers and was injured for the remainder of the 2013/14 season. The 2014/15 season went better again, and he was able to complete 72 games for the Nets, achieving almost 18 points on average. With the Nets he reached the playoffs for the second time in his career after 2012, but was in the first round against the Atlanta Hawks over . After the season he signed a new contract with the Nets, having previously left the contract. The next two years were sporty but disastrous for the Nets. Lopez was the only bright spot and scored an average of 19 points and 7 rebounds on average. In April 2017 Lopez overtook Buck Williams as the most successful basket shooter in Nets history.

After nine years with the Nets, Lopez was transferred to the Los Angeles Lakers in June 2017 for D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov . With the athletically unsuccessful Lakers, he came in 74 season games on 13.0 points and 4.0 rebounds on average. At the end of the season he left the Lakers as a free agent and signed with the Milwaukee Bucks .
