occupation

Seven Days Sunday is a 2007 film directed by Niels Laupert . The drama is based on a true story.

action

January 14, 1996 is a day like any other for Adam and Tommek. A day like a Sunday, because for both of them every day is a Sunday. They meet up with their clique, get drunk and wander aimlessly around the houses. The young people drop out of school, their lives are boring, without a chance and without any prospects. To get a bit of variety, Tommek has a fateful idea. He asks Adam whether he can kill a person and instigates him to do a terrible deed.

background

The film is based on a true story that took place in Poland in 1996. The two then juvenile perpetrators are still in custody for the murder. Director Niels Laupert became aware of the case through a newspaper article. He was shocked by "the lack of motives, the extremely radical approach and the lack of any insight and remorse". He first met with the journalist, from whom he received background material and her interview recordings with those affected. In 2006 he visited the perpetrators in their prisons in Poland, who at that time had already served more than ten of their 25 years in prison. German bands such as Slut or Notwist contributed the music for the film, but internationally successful bands such as Portishead and Babyshambles could also be won over to the project. They made some of their music available for free after seeing the project.
