Kirk James Hinrich (born January 2, 1981 in Sioux City , Iowa ) is a retired American basketball player who was active in the NBA from 2003 to 2016 , most of it with the Chicago Bulls .

NBA career

Hinrich played college basketball at the University of Kansas . In the 2003 NBA draft , he was selected seventh by the Chicago Bulls and, after a good first year as a professional, was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . Hinrich was the nominal starter in the point guard position for the first five years and scored an average of 16 points and 6 assists . When Derrick Rose signed on in 2008, he left the bank.

In June 2010, Hinrich was transferred from the Bulls to the Washington Wizards . In return, the Bulls received the draft rights for Kevin Seraphin and Vladimir Veremeenko . Hinrich played for the Wizards until February 2011.

On February 23, 2011, he was transferred to the Atlanta Hawks in a trade for Mike Bibby . Due to a serious injury, he missed several games in the 2011/12 season .

For NBA season 2012/13 versa Hinrich to the Chicago Bulls back and signed a contract for two years. Due to the serious injury to Derrick Rose, Hinrich played again as the starting point guard and scored 7.7 points and 5.2 assists on average.

Also the following season he was allowed to start many games due to Rose's injury. He scored 9.1 points, but only hit 37% of his field throws. With the return of Rose in the 2014/15 season, Hinrich moved back into the second tier. In 2015/16 it deteriorated significantly due to its age and was only used sporadically.

In February 2016, Hinrich was transferred back to the Atlanta Hawks, where he played the season to the end.

National team

In 2006, Hinrich won bronze with the USA national team at the 2006 World Cup in Japan.
