Alec Burks (born July 20, 1991 in Grandview , Missouri ) is an American basketball player . He has been playing for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA since 2020 .
college
Burks played for the Colorado Buffaloes for two years . In his Freshman year, he won the Freshman of the Year award in the Big 12 Conference with 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists . After Burks finished sophomore year, he decided to enroll in the 2011 NBA Draft . He finished his sophomore year with 20.5 points, 2.9 assists and 6.5 rebounds per game.
NBA career
In the 2011 NBA draft , Burks was selected 12th by the Utah Jazz . Burks came off the bench for the first two years and averaged about 7 points per game. Since the 2013/14 season he has taken on the role of “Best Sixth Man” at Jazz, so that from now on he will be the most important attack option from the bank. On January 13, 2014, Burks achieved a career record with 34 points when Jazz beat the Denver Nuggets . In his third year Burks doubled his point yield and scored 14.0 points per game.
On October 31, 2014, Burks extended his contract with Jazz. For this he will receive 42 million US dollars for four years. Due to problems with his shoulder, Burks only played 27 games in the 2014–15 season before he had to announce his season-off to undergo an operation. Burks returned for the 2015/16 season but injured himself again after 28 games. This time on the ankle and fell out for several months. He returned for the last three games of the season, but could not help jazz to playoff qualification. The next two years Burks increasingly suspended games and no longer achieved the performance quota before his serious injury, but remained an important part of the jazz rotation.
After more than seven years in jazz, Burks was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in November 2018 along with two future second-round draft picks , in return Kyle Korver switched to jazz.
In February 2019, Burks was transferred to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal . Burks saw only sporadic use time with the Kings. Burks signed with the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2020 , where he saw a lot of working time due to the failures of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and scored over 16 points on average for the Warriors. During the season, Burks and Glenn Robinson III were handed over to the Philadelphia 76ers for future picks. The Corona Due shortened season ended Burks with a Karrierebestwert of 15.0 points per game.
