Timothy John "TJ" McConnell Jr. (born March 25, 1992 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American basketball player who currently plays for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA .

Career

McConnell first played for Duquesne University for two years before moving to the University of Arizona in 2012 . In 2015 he signed up for the 2015 NBA Draft , but was not selected. He was then on the Philadelphia 76ers team in the 2015 NBA Summer League . On September 27, 2015, he signed an NBA deal with the Sixers.

He came off the bench in his first 2015/16 season . He played an average of 19.8 minutes in all 81 regular season games, in which he scored 6.1 points, 4.5 assists and 3.1 rebounds. In the following season 2016/17 he was able to earn more minutes through good performances. On January 6, 2017, McConnell put his previous career high in assists when he hit the Boston Celtics 17.

In the following season 2017/18 he was still a valuable bench player for the Philadelphia 76ers. On February 12, 2018 McConnell achieved the first triple double of his career. With his 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, he was also the first player in the history of the Sixers to get a triple double in a game in which he came off the bench.

In the summer of 2019, McConnell signed a contract with the Indiana Pacers .
