Valerija Tjulenewa (born September 27, 1997 ) is a Kazakh cross-country skier .

Career

Tjulenewa started in Vershina Tjoi for the first time in the Eastern-Europe-Cup in November 2013 and finished in 90th place over 10 km freestyle and 68th place over 5 km classic. At the Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty , she achieved 47th place in sprint and 42nd place in skiathlon . Her best results at the Junior World Ski Championships 2016 in Râşnov were 21st place over 5 km classic and 13th place with the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti she came in 62nd place over 10 km classic and 48th place in the skiathlon. She completed her first World Cup race in December 2017 in Davos , which she finished in 43rd place over 10 km freestyle. At the U23 World Championships 2018 in Goms , she achieved 29th place in the sprint and 17th place over 10 km classic. Her best placements at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 32nd place in the 30 km mass start race and 20th place in the team sprint together with Anna Shevchenko .

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Tjulenewa took her first World Cup points in the Lillehammer Tour , which she finished in 47th place, with 28th place over 10 km freestyle. At the U23 World Championships in Lahti in 2019 , she finished 22nd in the 15 km mass start race and fifth place in the 10 km freestyle. Her best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol were 23rd place in the 30 km mass start race and 15th place with the relay. At the Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk , she finished 35th in the sprint and seventh in the 15 km mass start race. In the 2019/20 season, she came 51st in the Ruka Triple and 30th in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 . At the U23 World Championships 2020 in Oberwiesenthal , she finished 28th in the 15 km mass start race, 24th place over 10 km classic and tenth place with the relay.
